book-pop-up-straight

16 October 2014

We are in Auckland for the launch of Al Brown's new cookbook, "Depot: Biography of a Restaurant". It's a fantastic book and guess who appears in it? Yes! We do! Nod and Lisa. So exciting!

We've been supplying Al's Depot restaurant since it opened and we're really proud of the on-going relationship. It's nice when the hard work that goes into producing our super-yum oysters is rewarded with a prolonged presence in such a respected establishment.

So, grab a copy of the book and grab some of our delish oysters, and getting cooking and scoffing.

Lastly, we always do Taste of Auckland with The Depot and you can catch us there again 13-16 Nov, Western Springs. Come along and try out our scrumptious oysters to understand why Al loves them so.

We welcomed the official arrival of the Mahurangi Oyster Shed on Sunday 24 Novermber. We enjoyed the most exquisite afternoon with friends and family. New personal records were set on the number of oysters consumed and Nod now has an army of shuckers he can call on if he gets busy.

Pop in some time soon and check out the Oyster Shed.

News update from Mahurangi Oysters ...

Walked away from the NZOIA (NZ Oyster Industry Association) conference on Saturday 23rd July with the following awards:

Waikere Cup for Best Packaged Pacific Oysters

The little wooden box, made by Nod, is how we sell our oyster in the whole shell at La Cigale (www.lacigale.co.nz). Customers love these, obviously so did the judges. These are environmentally friendly and our customers are recycling them, bringing them back each week for a refill. Brilliant.

Bay of Islands Trophy for the best recipe

The Oyster Vodka Veloute was the winner. It's delicious and so good for you. Soupalicious and made completely with fresh ingredients by Annabel Guinness from Love Soup in Matakana, with yummy Mahurangi Oysters from Nod and Lisa.

Otamatea Trophy for the best 18 month stick

All those hours that Nod puts in on the farm to grow the best oysters paid off. In 2010 he won the Pacific Cup for the best half shell oysters. He is obviously doing it right.

Come and buy fresh oysters from us at La Cigale French Market, every Saturday morning, 69 St Georges Bay Rd, Parnell.
